All what you need for the chutney is :
- Onion : 2 small
- Urad dal (black gram dal) : 1/4 cup
- Dry red chillies : 7-8
- Tamarind juice : 1 tsp
- Oil : 2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Mustard seeds and cumin seeds for tempering
Method :
- Heat oil in a pan, once hot add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Allow them to splutter.
- Add dry red chilies and washed urad dal. Add sliced onions. Sauté on high flame till the urad dal and onions get brown color. Once done, cool the mixture.
- Add tamarind juice and salt to it and blend to a smooth paste, add few drops of water if required.
- Serve with dosa, idly, uttapam or pesarattu!
