Spicy Onion Chutney

Spicy onion chutney is a side dish which can be accompanied with many South Indian delicacies. My husband's friend introduced it to me..thanks to him!!

All what you need for the chutney is :
  • Onion : 2 small
  • Urad dal (black gram dal) : 1/4 cup 
  • Dry red chillies : 7-8
  • Tamarind juice : 1 tsp
  • Oil : 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Mustard seeds and cumin seeds for tempering

Method :
  • Heat oil in a pan, once hot add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Allow them to splutter.
  • Add dry red chilies and washed urad dal. Add sliced onions. Sauté on high flame till the urad dal and onions get brown color. Once done, cool the mixture.
  • Add tamarind juice and salt to it and blend to a smooth paste, add few drops of  water if required.
  • Serve with dosa, idly, uttapam or pesarattu!
