Spinach Salad

I used to hate Spinach when I was a kid (usually all kids do!) It was only Popeye- the sailor, who used to make me eat it!! Spinach Salad is one of my mom's recipes I just love to have every other day...and the goodness of Spinach need not be explained...!

Ingredients :
  • Spinach : 1 cup (baby spinach tastes great) 
  • Moong dal : 1/4 cup (soaked in water for an hour)
  • Lemon juice : 1-2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder : 1 tsp
  • Hing powder (asafoetida) : 1/4 tsp
  • Oil : 11/2 tsp 
  • Salt to taste

Method :




  • Wash Spinach and chop finely. Drain moong dal from water.
  • In a bowl, take chopped Spinach, add moong dal, red chilly powder, lemon juice and salt. Mix really well.
  • For tempering, heat oil, add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter. Add hing powder, and pour this into the above mixture. Mix well.
  • Serve as a side dish or just like that!
